Day after day, every day, thousands of shelter workers and volunteer rescuers care for hundreds of thousands of abandoned and homeless animals. Many reach into their own pockets to lend a hand, all give a piece of their heart. Sometimes the work is heartbreaking, but most times it is joyful and deeply satisfying to take a broken animal who has given up and to help them find a new life.
